I choose to watch 3 episodes of Entourage and track how many times a brand name was noticeable to the viewer. Within those 3 episodes, 17 things really stood out to me. Entourage is watched by so many people every week, and the price to get a certain products brand name showing must cost companies millions. It is a great way to advertise cars, because viewers can see celebrities looking manly, sexy, and famous driving these cars. Along with every other items on the show including Turtle's famous New York Yankees hat are put their on purpose. Movie sets are specifically designed to look as real as possible, and the public is more likely to buy them after seeing Vincent Chase surrounded by them. I think that product placement is a smart strategy for companies trying to advertise their products, but it also works in the favor the show producers, and overall reality of the show.
Product placement didn't really change my viewing experience, but it defiantly made me much more aware of the time and work put into television shows.
